Reviews

“Quite demanding, Mugen Souls is a much more difficult than it seems. Behind a sweet visual hides a title that shamelessly parodies Japanese RPGs”
7.5/10 – Jeuxpo

“The battle system is where Mugen Souls main strength lies. It’s turn based, where you have an area you can move about in and from there a smaller area you can attack in, this gets bigger/smaller for some skills and is fairly similar to a tactical RPG system, but in 3D and it feels a lot less restricted… The game performs really well too, I’m fairly below the minimum spec, but on the lowest setting I have next to no slowdown in game… Overall, it’s a nice little title.”
7/10 – Otaku Gamers UK

“Mugen Souls is a fun, fast-paced RPG with a goofy sense of humor and a million interlocking gameplay systems, and both makes fun of and feels like a throwback to a more traditional style of RPG”
3.5/5 – Hardcoregamer (PS3 review)

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This is a chibi-style JRPG where the player leads a group of characters across several planets to take over the universe. The inhabitants of the planets, and even the worlds themselves, can be charmed by the main character, Chou Chou into become her ‘Peons’, at which point they turn into rabbit-like creatures and join her, contributing to her power.
The player charms peons by communicating with enemies in combat instead of fighting them. To do this Chou Chou can change between a variety of personality type alter-egos. Depending on the kind of person enemies are attracted to (shy, stern, ditzy, aggressive, etc) they will be charmed and join you, or made angrier and more dangerous. The dynamics of attraction are not sexual in tone and are purely comedic in nature.
The dialog between character contains flirtatious references but no actual sexual content of any sort. Between worlds there are sometimes scenes in a bathhouse where characters are covered by bubbles, etc, and no nudity is ever depicted.
